Mike flew home to Portland this morning, so we decided yesterday to spend out last full day together at one of our favorite spots; Laguna Beach. Fifteen minutes on a beautiful winding canyon road and we're there. It's an eclectic, bohemian beach community studded with incredible restaurants and cafe's. Our favorite gem is Zinc Cafe.
The outdoor patio has a beautiful 'woodsy' feel to it, inviting locals to a leisurely meal with the sun on your back and blooming vines above.
Mike ordered Muesli with fresh cream topped with fruit & orange zest.
I ordered poached eggs with parsley on sourdough toast &
we topped it off with Peets coffee. YUM! I love this simple, beautiful, Slow Food feel to our meal. Nothing joins our souls more than sharing food with friends and loved ones. This meal with Mike was my favorite Christmas gift.Zinc has 3 locations now all in local beach communities. This location (the original) has an adjoining market that sells sandwiches, cakes, baked goods and savory dishes.
Afterwards we strolled a couple of blocks to the beach. It was a perfect day. Plenty of people out enjoying it, but not over crowded. I'm looking forward to taking more/better pics with my beautiful new digital camera Mike gave me for Christmas!
I love the New Year. Not the New Years Eve hoopla, but the sense of a new beginning and the comforting strength of your feet firmly planted where they belong. I wish you all the best in the New Year; with laughter, food & love!
